Rare in Katherine, more predictable in Victoria River district.

Loud metallic call. Riverine vegetation or urban gardens.

Flocks attracted to native fig trees. Shrill call given regularly.
Spangled Drongo
A few travel inland during the wet. More common Kakadu.

Congregates in flocks in early dry. Breeds in the early wet.
Apostlebird
Scruffy, untidy appearance. Generally flocks of a dozen or so.

Dark colouring distinguishes it from other Woodswallows.

Prefers open country where it pursues insects from tree perches.

Katherine is about the northern extremity of its range. More common towards Mataranka and further south.

Bold and raucous. Mimics bird calls and other sounds.
Torresian Crow
Common along roads. Only resident Corvid in region.
